It's our passion.Primary PurposeTransports patients around PHHS by wheelchair or stretcher to ensure patient's safety.Education* None.Experience* Prefer 6 months of experience in healthcare and/or customer service.Certification/Registration/Licensure* Must have current CPR-Heartsaver course completion card within 90 days of hire and/orplacement from one of the following:* American Heart Association* American Red Cross Rescuer* Military Training NetworkSkills or Special Abilities* Must be able to read and write.* Must have very strong interpersonal skills and the ability to represent Parkland in a positivemanner.* Must exhibit caring, service-oriented behaviors toward people encountered and be able to defuseemotionally charged situations.* Must be able to apply sound judgement toward satisfying a variety of questions and problemsfrom patients and visitors.* Must be able to follow both oral and written directions.* Must be able to communicate effectively with patients, nurses, physicians and other hospitalpersonnel.* Must have basic math skills.* Must complete within 90 days of hire and/or placement a Preventative Back Injury & Proper LiftTechnique class and demonstrate proficiency.Responsibilities1. Safely transports patients via stretcher or wheelchair to departments/areas of PHHS to helpsafeguard patients while on the campus. May include the transport of supplies and belongingsduring discharges within set standards.2. Assists in the transport of critical care patients in unison with the appropriate clinical staff i.e.transport patient from ICU to Radiology.3. Maintains a positive working relationship with other area of hospital, nurses, physicians and otherParkland staff in order to facilitate effective communication.4. Identifies ways to improve work processes and improve customer satisfaction. Makesrecommendations to supervisor and implements and monitors results as appropriate in support ofthe overall goals and mission of Parkland.5. Stays abreast of the latest developments in customer service by attending in-houseseminars/workshops and reading internal publications. Integrates knowledge gained into currentwork practices.6. Maintains knowledge of applicable rules, regulations, policies, laws and guidelines that impact thePatient Transportation area. Develops effective internal controls that promote adherence toapplicable state/federal laws, and the program requirements of accreditation agencies andfederal, state, and private health plans.
